Statement & News from NAA
As our nation grapples from the tragic events of the last week, NAA will be releasing a statement this afternoon affirming our stand against all forms of racism and hatred. Our message will focus on the industry’s desire to serve communities that work together to seek a better future, for us all.
As our team worked to craft a message, we were intent on doing more than just sending a statement. We have committed that our Diversity & Inclusion Committee will work to develop resources over the coming weeks for the industry and affiliates to use. We will also highlight existing resources that are available for download and use by all NAA members. In a separate announcement, we will be offering free access to Franklin Covey’s two-hour Unconscious Bias course on Visto through July. We felt this would be a meaningful way to use the content within the course and to begin an important dialogue about inclusion.
Additionally, to encourage NAAEI credential holders to develop as leaders who foster inclusive workplaces and apartment communities, we will offer two CECs for those individuals who submit a certificate of Unconscious Bias course completion. We are committed to providing these critical education opportunities to our industry, and we look forward to sharing those updates with you.
This decision will impact the revenue share you would normally receive for this course. However, we felt offering the course to all members at this time was very important and cost should not be a barrier to access it. Beginning in August, the course will be offered for a fee and revenue shares will resume. Please let Maureen Lambe or myself know if you have any questions about the free course offering.
In closing, we’d love to hear what your affiliate is doing to create dialogue around these important issues. I know that we all want to be part of the conversation, and more importantly, the solution.
More than ever, please stay safe.
